A Publishing Accomplishment!
It seems to be a big week for accomplishment's in the Elwood Family!
Today, my first in print article was published in the Fairfield County Weekly! I have had a letter to the editor published before, but I feel like this is a new level of success in my writing love that is now turning career!
Check it out!

Congrats Will!
My husband can tend to be a complete over acheiver
Earlier in the year, when he joined the local volunteer fire department, he learned that they give out an annual award for Probationary Firefighter of the Year. Once he knew that it was an option during your year as a “probie” he knew in the back of his mind he MUST win that award.
Often bragging to the officers at the Fire Department that the award would be his.
Well last night, during the annual Past Captains Night, mainly to honor former Captains and officers of Echo Hose, he was awarded with the award he has strived to win since April when he got involved. Probationary Firefighter of the year!
Congrats to my super awesome husband Will!

The Nightmare Night
Last night turned into a nightmare in more way than one. Camden and I made our way to bed around 10pm, like usual and he fell right asleep. Nothing out of the ordinary...
12:45am he wakes up crying.
So I comfort him and get him back to sleep, or at least I thought he was going back to sleep.
1am he is up again whining... and does not want to go back to sleep for anything.
He is asking for juice, Daddy, his friend Michael, everything under the sun.
I was half asleep trying to figure out what was really going on.
So finally around 2am I get Will and tell him that he needs to come in and lay down with Camden.
So Daddy to the rescue... or so I thought.
He continued on, whining, crying, asking for me even though I was right there, asking for Daddy, Lala, Ole... everyone... No sleep in sight.
So I figured if I rolled over and ignored him, then he would go back to sleep, like he normally does if I just roll over.
NOPE! Wasn't having that either!
Next thing you know Daddy's alarm clock is going off for work, so he has to get up and get dressed to leave. Camden erupts in hysterics because he doesn't want Daddy to go anywhere.. LOVELY! We are not having a full blown meltdown at 5:30am.
Finally as I hear Ben waking up at 6:45am... I look at Camden and he is out cold. Lovely, now Ben is up for the day, and I have been up since 12:45am with about 3 hours of sleep.
Needless to say, it has been a long day for all of us!

Look Mom! No Hands!
I knew it would only be a matter of time, but Mr. Benjamin is growing up. Today we have officially sat up, on our own, with no hands. So of course, being the typical mother, I ran for the camera while Camden started messing with Ben.Camden was so proud of his little brother, so he sat down to play with him.Ben of course using his "no hands" talent was showing off his alligator toy while shoving it in his mouth which is pretty typical for him these days.
Look Mom, You even caught the drool while it was still on my face before it made it onto my clothes!
Getting tired... Starting to lean...

I cannot believe Ben is going on 9 months old. I think that his developmental milestones right now are coming so quickly and on top of each other that I often forget Camden has the vocabulary of a 8 year old mixed in with a little toddler talk still. He just talks to you like he is a little man and I look at him in amazement sometime. Thankfully he hasn't learned the word "why" yet. I am dreading that day as it became quite the annoyance with my nephew Dylan when he was younger.
I can't wait till it gets warmer outside so we can get out!
Car update: We fixed the Blazer AND the VW! So we are back to being a two car household although with the cold outside, I haven't had much of a desire to leave the house. It did cost us TWO full days of work for Will on Monday and Tuesday, but thankfully we should be expecting our Tax Return on the same day as our next pay, so we will not be hurting as bad as we may have been missing two full days.
Wish Will some luck, he has a test on Monday for Fire 1, his first test! I am sure he will ace it, but keep him in your thoughts!

Danielle Goes .com
As most of you know I have another blog I write called Momotics. It is a lot of birth, general parenting stuff, and my stronger opinions that really have nothing to do with my family.
I have been tossing around the idea of making the website a .com for a while, but the cost, or at least what I imagined the cost to be is what stopped me.
Yesterday, with a little extra time I did some investigating, and discovered I could purchase the domain for less than $11 for the entire year through godaddy.com and the project started!
I am proud to announce the official launch of Momotics.com and while it is still a work in progress, I think it looks awesome. I will be adding a new banner, an such over the next couple days, but check it out.

When Bad Things Happen to Good People....
Most know in recent months we have been having car issue, after car issue, after car issue. Finally we got a second car, and then started having issues with that car. Which all came to a head tonight... My husband's fire company got toned out for a possible structure fire (which was really those electric Christmas candles in someones window, but that is a whole other story in itself) so he threw on his shoes, and off he went.
He got 10-15 houses down the street from our home and SNAP.. THUG THUG THUG THUG BUMP POP SNAP SCRAPE GRIND GRIND GRIND.... SHIT!
Some pin or something fancy which I know NOTHING about SNAPPED! Lovely, this means a costly repair, a day off from work to get it fixed, a tow (thank god we are AAA members!) and a moment of hysterics on my part insisting DH was going to lose his job over one missed day (when half the guys he works with would keel over and die if they put in an actual full week!) anyways...
In true Danielle style, a little light bulb appeared above my head, and an idea for a new blog became reality when I ran out of the house with our camera as the tow truck pulled up. Of course my husband knew exactly what I was doing and found as much amusement in it as I did. Thankfully.....
Backing in....
Why does this suck so bad? Because right now, this blazer is our only working vehicle. So now we have a day to get it repaired and get DH back to work. I wish our VW wasn't such a giant hunk of shit... But it is life, and after getting through the past year, I think this is less than a minor blip on the radar.
I melt down when anything small happens, but this is going to cost us the price of the repair, plus a day's work. Which to me, will momentary be the end of the world.
